With Smackdown Vs. Raw 2010 only days away, take a look at the roster and brand new features such as the hotly anticipated Storyline Designer.

Just as they do every year, THQ and Yukes have touted Smackdown Vs. Raw 2010 as the best installment yet.

The question is will it have changed enough from last year's edition, which failed to impress many WWE fans, despite similar claims from the developers in the run up to it's release.

Smackdown Vs. Raw 2010 Roster

This year's 67 strong roster includes a lot of the Superstars and Diva's fans would expect, although there are as with every year a few omissions that will more than likely be filled in with revenue-boosting Downloadable Content Updates.

Some of the most notable Superstars that don't appear to have made the cut are Zack Ryder, Tyson Kidd, D.H Smith and Yoshi Tatsu.

One major bone of contention with fans this year is the 'Exclusive' Legends that are being offered with pre-orders.

If fans pre-order from Game (UK) or Gamestop (USA) they will receive a unique code to download WWE Hall of Famer 'Stone Cold Steve Austin'.

Meanwhile Play.Com are offering 'The Rock' as an exclusive download when the game is pre-ordered with them, leaving many wondering which to choose.

While nothing official has been released on the matter, the general understanding is that while Stone Cold will only be available through pre-order, The Rock will be available for free at a later date.

Smackdown Vs. Raw 2010 'Threads'

In previous years certain Superstars were gifted alternate attires while others were left to gradually look more and more dated as the months went on.

This year players will have the opportunity to change the colour of every single Superstar and Diva's attires, then take them online to show off their latest style, whether it be true to life or putting Vladimir Kozlov in bright pink trunks.

While this will allow fans to keep the roster looking as up to date as possible, it is limited purely to changing colour schemes, so if for instance Triple H dropped his Trunks in favour of full length parachute pants, it wouldn't be possible to replicate this just through the 'threads' mode.

Smackdown Vs. Raw 2010 Road to WrestleMania

Road to WrestleMania returns with six new storylines letting fans take control of the likes of Edge, HBK and Randy Orton, although this year will also offer a Divas option and a storyline created especially for a created superstar.

Smackdown Vs. Raw 2010 Storyline Designer

Last year's Smackdown Vs. Raw received a lot of criticism for having a short shelf life, as once all the Road to WrestleMania storylines had been completed, there wasn't a whole lot left to do.

This year THQ have decided to let the fans 'do it themselves' with the Storyline Designer.

Players can choose from over 100 locations and situations to place Superstars into in order to build a storyline.

These cutscenes are then placed into a calendar alongside matches, allowing rivalries to span over months and even years with the option of titles and stipulation matches thrown in for good measure.

Fans can then upload these created scenarios for others to download and play though, theoretically leading to limitless hours of fresh new gameplay.

Other New Features in Smackdown Vs. Raw 2010

  • Create-A-Wrestler mode has been completely overhauled, with faster load times and a whole new collection of 3D attires.
  • Fans will be able to band together as a community, uploading not only Storylines but Entrances, Highlight Reels and even Created Superstars.
  • Mixed Tag Team and Championship Scramble Matches have both been added.
  • The Royal Rumble has been overhauled and now includes mini-games and 'Elimination' Finishers such as Sweet Chin Music, which is sure to send even the biggest opponent flying over the top rope.
  • Improved controls and a new 'blood' system.

Smackdown Vs. Raw 2010 is released on the 20th October (USA) / 23rd October (UK).
